The Golden Circle route is probably the most popular route of tourism in Iceland’s south countryside. In this route you will visit the National Park of Þingvellir, the Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss waterfall. How is our Golden Circle tour?A private guide-driver will come pick you from your hotel, and then you will start your tour by first visiting Þingvellir National Park, which has been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage site in 2004. This is exactly where Icelandic Parliament (Alpingi) was formed in the year 930, and that parliament continued meeting until 1798.As your tour progresses, you will be taken around the country side where you will get to see the spectacular and powerful Gullfoss waterfall. You will get to see for yourself the power of nature when you watch the water falling 32 meters into the craggy canyon. The literal translation of Gullfoss, is Golden waterfall. It is indeed a sight to behold. Your last stop will be at Geysir area where you will find lots of hot springs such as the geysir Strokkur which spouts large amount of water every 5 to to 8 minutes into the air. Geysir is the recommended place for lunch or just some coffee, tea, other refreshments. We also offer an additional stop at Rauðhólar (Redhills) which is what was left behind by a cluster of pseudo-craters in Elliðaárhraun lava field. It is only in Iceland that you will get to experience this phenomena, and nowhere else in the world. The only place you will find something similar within our universe is in Athabasca Valle of Mars. The region has a flow of lava that superheats groundwater stored up in the underlying rocks. From here we only have driving back to Reykjavik. Remember. We are completely aware that our travelers are in any age, and conditions so this Golden Circle tour as other tours with Mercury Grail aren’t limited on any way. It simply is travelling is going without any rush.
